The 2026 Global Korea Scholarship for Undergraduate Degrees

Korean Education Center in Malaysia (The Embassy of the Republic of Korea) would like to announce that the 2026 Global Korea Scholarship for Undergraduate Degrees (GKS-U)​ will be rescheduled due to the suspension of the Study in Korea online system. Application submission through the system is currently unavailable. Accordingly, the application method and schedule have been revised.

1. Selection schedule:

   □ Application Period: Monday, 6th October 09:00 ~ Friday, 17 October 2025  16:00 to the KOREAN EDUCATION CENTER(KEC)* (by hand or post)

   * KEC: Suite 6.08, 6th Floor, Menara Hap Seng, Jalan P. Ramlee, 50250 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

   * Outside office hours, please put the application documents in the box prepared in front of the KEC door, Level 6, Menara Hap Seng.

※Any application that arrives after the deadline will be rejected.

Applicants who have already submitted their applications online are required to resubmit their complete application documents to the first round of selection by the deadline. (Please refer to the Embassy track application guidelines)

   □ Result of document screening: 22 October 2025 (TBC)

   □ Interview: 23 ~ 24 October 2025 (TBC)

   □ Result of 1st round: 27 October 2025

   □ Selection of 2nd round (NIIED): Late November (TBC)

   □ Selection of 3rd round (Respective Universities): by 26th December 2025 (TBC)

      ※Please refer to the 2026 GKS-U application guidelines on pages 9 and 10 for the selection of important dates.

      ※It is each applicant’s responsibility to check important notices posted on the “Study in Korea” website.

2. Quota for Malaysia under Embassy track: 

    • Bachelor's degree program (General): 1

    • R-GKS:  1

     ※Please go here for the University track information and available quota for Malaysians.

     ※R-GKS is the GKS program, which focuses on regional schools. (Applicants can choose up to TWO different universities in TYPE B universities)

3. Notes for applicants:

  □ Please write as below in the Application Checklist: 

      Name of institute receiving application (공관/대학명): Embassy of Republic of Korea in Malaysia (말레이시아 대사관)

      ​Application Program: General OR R-GKS

      Name of Applicant (성명): Your full name as stated in your Passport or IC

PLEASE READ THE 2026 GKS-U APPLICATION GUIDELINES THOROUGHLY TO PREVENT YOUR APPLICATION FROM BEING REJECTED.

4. Documentation requirements:

   □ Refer to The GKS-U Documentation Requirement Guideline for the 1st round of selection - Embassy track-MY

   □ Number of documents to be submitted: 

       > General Program: ONE(1) set of notarized/consular-confirmed and THREE(3) set of photocopy documents

       > R-GKS Program: ONE(1) set of notarized/consular-confirmed and TWO(2) set of photocopy documents

   □ Put the document in an envelope and label the envelope to:

   □ Things to note during submission:

        - All documents must be submitted in English or Korean. The translated document should be accompanied by its original.

            ※ The certificate should be translated even if the documents are bilingual (Malay and English) 

        - Application documents must be submitted in the order of the “Application Checklist,” which itself should be the front cover of each set of application documents.

        - Please number and label each document as shown below. Do not use sticky notes!

-  The documents MUST not be separated by a stapler or paper clip. Binder clips are allowed.

※ Number and label each document can be done by handwriting, typing, gluing, or labeling stickers.
